Second Story Apartment Window Enjoys a Garden View
Good things happen in the treetops--privacy, sunlight, nesting birds, and a view of the stars at night. This small apartment with its deep-set fixed window enjoys them all. Open the solid-panel shutters in the morning for the light, close them at night only if it's so cold that you want to increase the efficiency of the insulating double-paned windows. The decor is eclectic, with the formal carved wood molding near the ceiling being offset by a modern sofa, a fringed brocade lampshade, a stool used as a side table, and a pegged plank dining table that's definitely rustic. What ties it all together is the use of high key colors - white for the window frame and shutters, very soft lime for the sofa and second lamp, and warm wood tones. All the window light and soft colors add a feeling of spaciousness. Maybe there's an invitation to tea on the answering machine!
