Bold Colors Create Cheery Windows You Can't Ignore

The far right casement window on this bright wall is cracked open to let the joy creep inside. Or maybe it spilled out from the inside. One way or another, the cheerfulness didn't bypass the windows themselves, festooned like twin brides with lace curtains and giant window box bouquets of brilliant posies. But notice a clever effect: The window frames aren't real. They're painted onto the ochre wall in a subtle tan, while the wood muntins dividing the panes are highlighted in a bolder brown. The whole facade screams "southern Europe," and that window is probably always open. Who cares if the flowers obscure the name of this establishment? Neither townsfolk nor tourists are going to pass by this cheerful front faade without going to find out what's happening inside.
