Customized Commercial Door Solutions
January 06, 2010
Commercial exterior doors present a unique challenge in commercial construction and architecture. Due to the very nature of the buildings, commercial exterior doors need to offer a more customized solutions to the building, while meeting some stringent regulations. Some of those regulations include:
- Fire qualities - Although standards vary throughout commercial door uses, the fire retardant rating is measured in minutes, as in how long the door is able to withstand high temperature fires. Quality commercial exterior doors offer the ability to withstand fire for a longer number of minutes, some as much as 90 minutes.
- Safe ingress and egress - High traffic commercial entryways need to be able to safely handle foot traffic both entering and exiting the building, often simultaneously. Customized large commercial exterior doors can be designed to safely handle the flow of foot traffic.
- Architectural qualities - Commercial exterior doors need to be ready, willing and able to take on the unique construction demands of commercial buildings. While residential exterior doors tend to have standard sizes, commercial exterior doors need to be able to be customized to various sizes and even shapes to handle unique commercial features.
- Visibility - Commercial exterior doors typically have a higher need for visibility than standard doorways, not only to offer more interior natural lighting, but plenty of glass to offer visible advertising for interior signage, products and services.
Commercial exterior doors offer a higher level of customization than a standard exterior door, not only do they need to be able to stand up to the high level of usage, the unique commercial requirements, but they need to be able to take on customized commercial exterior requirements as well.
